Acne Facial Treatments I’ve Tried
Like I said before, I’ve had problems with acne since I was in my teens. My skin is just really acne-prone and I’ve been trying on and off to get rid of my acne in the last few years (I’m 23 now). Over the past few years I’ve tried almost all the over-the-counter stuff I could get at drugstores: ProActiv, Clean & Clear, Neutrogena, Clearasil, etc., but none of them was really effective enough or worked for long enough periods for me to keep using them. Worse, most of them contain salicylic acid / benzoyl peroxide which irritated my skin. I also tried cutting sugar out of my diet, but have only seen minor improvement that really wasn’t worth the change in diet (I do have a sweet tooth!)
Although at times my pimples can get quite painful, and not to mention unsightly, I always consoled myself with the thought that it wouldn’t last forever. I tried not to let my acne affect my self-esteem too much, and they didn’t keep me from dating – although I always wished I could go on dates acne-free!
And then Rob proposed to me last week, and I said yes. We’re planning to get married this fall. I’m not a vain person, but I’m starting to fervently hope for my skin to be clear when I get married so I’d look good on camera. I don’t think it’s too much to ask. It’s such a common problem, there are bound to be products out there that work. I just need to take the time to do research online to see which products are getting great feedback and give those a shot. Some people just randomly buy products based on trial-and-error until they find something that works. Me on the other hand prefer to do as much research as I can before shelling out the cash. This approach has kept me away from scams and useless products in the past, and I’m sure it’ll do me well this time around too!
So from now on, instead of just using this blog to vent (which is lame not to mention useless), I’ll be using it to document my research and to keep track of results. This blog will make me more disciplined in my quest, and plus I’m hoping to be of help to other people with the same problem by writing down my experiences. I’m getting married in September – I have six months to clear up my face before the wedding. I’ll keep you posted. Wish me luck!
And if you have any suggestions at all on which products or methods to try, PLEASE write them in the comments. I would really appreciate it and could really use the help!
